Balkan body music December

Balkan body music, at least it seems, is no longer at such a fast pace in December. We are still in Poland, finishing the recording and getting ready to go to Poznań. There we will have workshops from December 4 to 6th at the Specto elementary school (Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa Specto), where we will also perform for students the last day. We’re happy to have this opportunity because of the work of Anna Trąbała, teacher at the school.

We will also perform shortly at the Volunteer of the year gala at Centrum Kultury Zamek on December 5th.

See you in Serbia? We will have three workshops: on December 14th we will be in Novi Sad for children and parents playing People, don’t litter in the Mensa Srbije space. You can register here. On December 15th in Belgrade, in the Svitac kindergarten, in cooperation with the Waldorf Pedagogy of Serbia, we will do a workshop for educators, for which you can register here. After that, another workshop for children and parents, where we will learn together to perform and sing the ecological song People, don’t litter, and the registration form is here.

Ecology starts at a young age, and garbage is not only that which ends up on the street, in nature, in the rivers. There is so much dirt in our communication that it is necessary to offer an activity in which we will have fun, socialize and connect generations through shared enjoyment.

Balkan body Music in November

The most important November event for us was the premiere of the music video and song for children People, don’t litter. The video already has over 3,000 views, thanks to our dear supporters. Thank you for sharing this video with all parents, educators, teachers!

Unfortunately, family obligations prevented us from going to the IBMF in Athens. We spent the second half of November in Poland. We recorded new material for the Polish and Serbian project Slavyk in Bytom, in the studio of Łukasz Malok, the album producer and one of the band members. We hope to present this project of ours in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Serbia at the next New Balkan Rhythm festival in Sremski Karlovci.

In Poland, we also visited Katowice City of Gardens, a huge cultural center and a great cultural force of this city and Silesia. We met with representatives of the center and discussed possible cooperation. Our efforts are focused on performing Mirror with Sound again and presenting Slavyk. Mirror with sound is a musical and movement theater piece that we made in cooperation with the Rozbark Theater and the Academy of Arts in Krakow (Bytom department), with the support of Culture moves Europe program.

Marko is a guest body percussionist on the new album of Ildiko Kali, our respected colleague from Slovakia, Jore Jore. The song is called Oh, čierna som.

Memories from Korea

Look at the photos from the Gwangju Busking Worldcup festival, where we participated in early October. It was our first time performing in Korea and the longest trip so far. We traveled two whole days to get to Seoul, and then another four hours south, to Gwangju. We performed in front of the Asia Culture Center in front of a large local audience and colleagues from all over the world.

AWb in the media

As part of the program Unknown Europe on Euronews Serbia, a short report about our work and life on Fruška Gora was released.

We gave an interview to Macedonian Sitel TV, because our interpretation of the song Teach me, mother, scold me (Uči me, majko, karaj me) attracted a lot of attention in social media.

One of this year’s highlights is the cooperation with Vilma Talvitie, Finnish singer, piano body percussionist, composer and author. The first track we recorded for the new album of Alice in WonderBand is Niška banja with this exceptional artist.

The second one we just finished is Dilmano dilbero, Bulgarian song with the lovely singers of Milánosz, Dana Račková and Petra Majercikova. We recoded it in the studio of Łukasz Malok, trying to get straight what project we’re recording for. So, this time we’ll have more producers on our album.

Body music in 2024 and 2025

This year we traveled to thirteen countries, held thirty concerts and thirty workshops, two seminars for teachers and educators, six theater performances for audiences of all ages. We are slowly summing up our impressions. We released two new videos, Ko peva zlo ne misli and Ljudi, ne bacajte smeće. During our residency in Poland, we created a new music and dance performance, Mirror with sound. We organized the third New Balkan Rhythm festival.

Next year we have a residency with Oktopus Theater in Germany in the AIR program in Munich, a new album by Alice in WonderBand and the first album by Slavyk. We hope to travel, do workshops and perform. We look forward to new collaborations and expanding our team. More news soon.
