Happy new body music 2026!

What was your experience during the first month of the new 2026?

We used it to rest and get out of everyday life. Ana traveled to Brazil to get acquainted with the work of Música do Círculo. Marko started practicing drums again and introduced a new instrument into his performing practice, the rav drum.

You can listen to the harmony of body music and this meditative instrument in the rehearsal video of New Balkan Rhythm.

We recorded this new song with Vilma Talvitie, our dear colleague from Finland, and Berke Yiğit Satılmış, a clarinet player from Turkey.

We are open for booking in 2026. See you this year in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Italy. Below you can find a list of confirmed dates. We hope to meet somewhere on the road!

Next week we are happy to be hosts to the students of the University of Lyon. We’ll do a one day seminar of body music in the space of Eco center Radulovački in Sremski Karlovci. The students are musicians training to work in education. They will have a chance to use the acquired skills the same day in the famous linguistic high school in Sremski Karlovci, with the cooperation of the music teacher Rastko Pavlov.

Let’s recall some of the songs that you’ll be able to hear this year when we release The Courage to be Afraid, our second album. We stay faithfull to playing music from the Balkans, with the addition of our original songs and collaboration with different international artists.

Body music in January: Brazil!

If you were wondering how was it for Ana in Brazil at the Música do Círculo retreat, the word that describes her experience is AWESOME. We have known about this team of music in the circle practice for a long time and have been following them for ten years. They have a unique style of work, which they pass on through trainings for facilitators of music in the circle. These trainings are organized in Brazil, USA and Europe. Apart from that, they are also engaged in the practice of MdC retreats, which they organize twice a year. They run many workshops in different continents, and part of the team is also involved in performing arts. For years now, they have been organizing Fritura Livre once a month. This is a large music circle in an open space in a wonderful park in São Paulo, where any passer-by can join and be part of the large orchestra of body musicians.

Below you can watch a short documentary video about the retreat. Anyone involved in recording and performing music knows how difficult it is to faithfully convey the sound of improvised music in motion. It’s even harder to convey the sense of connection and trust this practice creates! It is an experience that must be experienced. However, we hope that we have tickled your imagination at least a little and made you interested in researching this practice, and perhaps experiencing it once.

During the retreat, participants had the opportunity to offer workshops to other participants. Ana introduced this cheerful group from Brazil, Argentina, the USA, France and Canada to Serbian tradition and taught them to perform body percussion choreography for a song from Banat, Dodole, in a mixed even and odd rhythm. You can see (and hear) for yourself the impression of Balkan culture and New Balkan Rhythm workshop.

Remembering the end of Balkan body music 2025…

The fall body music tour in Germany, Finland and Slovakia was the first presentation of the new songs from the upcoming album The Courage to be Afraid.

We also recorded and arranged two new songs during the residency in Munich.

Here you can hear our performance from a wonderful concert we had in the end of November in Freies Musikzentrum.

We come back to Munich in August and November for concerts and workshops. See you!
