Body music spring in Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia

In March, we travel back to Bytom, a city in the south of Poland for a residency! We cooperate with the dance theater Teatr ROZBARK and the Kraków Academy of Dramatic Arts. The working title of the project is Bytom and Novi Sad: mirror with sound. We explore the similarities and differences between the fates of people in these two cities and countries through traditional songs. Songs will sound the dance, and everything will be accompanied by choreography for dancers with body percussion. We will work with contemporary dance students at the Academy, dancers from the Teatr ROZBARK and local musicians.

At the workshop we held on February 15 for the musicians and dancers of the Teatr ROZBARK, we met future collaborators, and they had the opportunity to try body music. The next day we met with the management of the Academy of Dramatic Arts (Akademia Sztuk Teatralnych im. Stanisława Wyspiańskiego w Krakowie Filia w Bytomiu), seniors from the local community, as well as with musicians who are keepers of the Silesian tradition: Iga Fedak and Robert Kier. We have been researching the musical material for the residency in March. Many thanks to the host, Mateusz Kowalski, for the great organization and warm hospitality! We can’t wait to come back.
