Lots of news and events this summer for us: with body music from the Balkans this year we have so far visited Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Hungary, Albania, and a trip to Macedonia, Bulgaria and Montenegro awaits us. Since the end of May, we have been at an accelerated pace, and in the second week of June, we literally performed four times in three different countries.
The road to North Macedonia is ahead of us. We are performing for the first time at the D festival on Lake Dojran. Then we travel to the north of Serbia to Mali Iđoš (Kishegyes) and the DombosFest. The summer is full of premieres, because until now we have not performed in Bulgaria. A to Jazz Festival included us in the showcase selection. We can’t wait to take the stage at South Park in Sofia. After that, we perform in another city in Bulgaria, in Gabrovo, as part of the FestivalNO in the neighborhood initiative.
ARLEMM in Serbia (Arilje) is another festival we haven’t performed at yet. In addition to the concert, we will also lead a body music workshop. If you are nearby, please contact the organizers to participate.
Balkan body music performance at the European Forum on Music of European Music Council
At the beginning of June, we performed part of the repertoire from the latest album of music from the Balkans in front of 150 representatives from more than 20 European countries at the European Music Forum, organized by the European Music Council and the Hungarian production company Hangvető. In addition to the Croatian duo Dina e Mel (Dina Bušić and Melita Ivković), our performance was part of a musical evening where the participants of the European MOST Music project presented themselves.
We are especially glad that we had the opportunity to present the body music technique, which many participants knew about as a technique for working with children, but they were not aware of how it can be applied to perform music in a refined and complex way.

New Balkan Rhythm festival from August 25th to 27th
The second edition of the New Balkan Rhythm festival awaits us in August in Sremski Karlovci. Packages for the festival are on sale through the GigsTix online service. This year we will learn, hang out and enjoy the music with Anna Llombart (Barcelona), Elena Hristova (Skopje), Max Pollak (New York), Ben Schuetz (Hamburg) and your devoted duo, Alice in WonderBand.
Elena Hristova’s workshop is a novelty in the programme. In collaboration with Ana and Marko, she will teach songs from Macedonian and Balkan folklore, for which you will also learn how to perform the rhythm.
Baklava, a band from Skopje led by Elena Hristova, will also perform at the concert that will open the festival on August 25 at the Radulovacki Ecological Center.
